This project is inspired by the current state, such as trends and gaps, of creator studies and is dedicated to mapping the scholars and sites engaged in researching creators and understanding how two major actors, platforms and MCNs, train creators.
Streaming Video Media (2022)
Researched Southeast/East Asia’s local SVODs, their content acquisition, and strategies and compared those with Netflix and Disney+.
Data are collected from IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, The Numbers, HSX, The Quorum, Nielsen, Futon Critic, TV Time, Twitter, and Reddit.
SKY: Children of the Light (2022)
Examined the association between players’ individualism and their homophilous game-playing on the metaverse with behavior data and survey data (N=11,729), and compared the independent variable to three countries (ANOVA)
Has Webtoon Successfully Localized in the US? (2021)
Analyzed economic, cultural, and competitive situations and suggested the localizing strategy
How do Vietnam’s media industries operate outside its borders? (2021)
Evaluated Vietnam’s media capital (infrastructure & IP), media governance (policy), media distribution (channel & content), and creators
